JEC WORLD 2025: Teddy Fournier talks about bio-based composites
We are proud to announce the participation of Teddy Fournier, R&D engineer in composite materials at CANOE, in one of the conferences of JEC World 2025, which will be held on March 6, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in Agora 5 (Hall 5).
The theme of this session: « Bio-based Alternatives for Lightweighting », a round table on current innovations and solutions for integrating bio-based composites into industrial applications.
Focus on the THERMOFIRE project
During this round table, Teddy Fournier will present the THERMOFIRE project, a European research program aimed at developing bio-based, lightweight, recyclable and fire-resistant thermoplastic composites.
Led by a consortium of 12 European partners, THERMOFIRE aims to reduce dependence on fossil polymers through innovative materials, integrating:
- Natural fibers as reinforcement,
- Bio-sourced halogen-free flame retardants,
- A bio-sourced polymer matrix (PA11 from castor oil).
Concrete applications for industry
The THERMOFIRE project will make it possible to design three functional prototypes intended for the sectors:
- Automotive: electric battery case,
- Aeronautics: aircraft seat,
- Textile: bio-sourced non-woven fabric.
These technological advances mark a key step in the transition to more sustainable composites, while meeting the performance and safety requirements of the transport industry.
We look forward to seeing you on March 6, 2025 at JEC World 2025 to learn more about these innovations and talk with our experts!
